Special Moments in Kiting

These are a few of those special moments/events that have occurred as a result of our kite making and flying around New Zealand and the world.

Kite Jigsaw

Our kites feature on a jigsaw puzzle (Ride the Wild Wind) sold around the world by Visual Echo made by Hobbico.

The actual puzzle is 3D so it is very hard to do as each piece changes appearance depending the angle you view it.

There are 9 of our kites in the jigsaw picture.

Can you find them?

The jigsaw picture designer Royce McClure of Tauranga asked if we could fly some of our kites so he could get some different shaped kites and the flying perspectives correct. Of course, the chosen day had no wind so there was a lot of running involved. Fortunately for us, Royce ran out of time to put his graphics on our kite shapes so they all appear in the jigsaw with our graphics.

Flying at the Chateau

Each New Year for the last 5 years we have had a kite day on the Chateau Tongariro golf course. The kite day and the days leading up to it have provided us with some very special photo oportunities.

This is a photo of our circoflex kite framing the peak of Mt Ruapehu. It was taken by a member of the Taupo Photography Club.

A planned early evening fly at the Chateau was transformed into a 15 minute special moment when the sun lit up a ridge in front of Mt Ngauruhoe. As you can see it was cold due to snow falling at high altitudes during the day.
